The aggressive stance caused by tech billionaires pushing their AI investment has caused unnecessary pain all over the world. I have been in post-mainframe technology since its inception. In my almost 50 years of experience, I have never seen greater exaggeration of the claimed functionality of any product. In their enormous efforts to promote their product, they chose the path of claiming to be able to replace people, bragging about all the jobs that will be lost.

The claims were made that programmers would no longer be necessary. Companies used this as an opportunity to lay off what they considered expensive employees. Many companies eliminated entry-level jobs. The truth was not recognized until much later, when many of these people were rehired. Some companies decided that instead of rehiring full-time employees, they would rehire the same people as contractors, thus avoiding paying benefits.

But where people are really being hurt is in areas where AI can closely mimic the behavior of people. Still not to the level advertised, but able to function. There are countries like the Philippines where a significant part of the economy has been based on Western countries taking advantage of cheaper labor and hosting large call centers. One may imagine that developing nations have limited educational opportunities. In the Philippines, there is an abundance of college-educated people who are forced to work in fast food because there are no opportunities. There is no place for these call center representatives to go but down.

A feature discussed on the Reflex site talks about how Reflex is used to create jobs. The same people who worked at the call centers could be employed by companies that are managing incident response for other companies. There are opportunities in tech where a person is needed 24/7, but the cost of a Western employee may be prohibitive. I see many opportunities using GrayBelt technology to help people who have lost their employment due to AI.

I am currently contacting representatives of developing nations, proposing facilities based on Reflex. Given that GrayBelt Innovations is entirely self-funded, I do not have the ability to fund these organizations. However, I am offering a perpetual license for free. I’ve also written into the template for an acquisition that all granted perpetual licenses must be respected after the company is acquired. Note that I will have no control over whatever an acquirer’s policy will be in regard to granting new free licenses.

There is so much talk now about the distribution of wealth in the US. And virtually everyone involved in AI is funneling money toward the tech billionaires. That money will never be returned to American society but will grow as family wealth.

Since I am editing this myself, I have obviously not yet succeeded at explaining exactly what GrayBelt technology can do and the literally dozens of markets it will disrupt. Therefore, there’s no point in stating a dollar amount here since, ironically, only AI is able to comprehend the technology I built. But here’s the thing: I’m in my late 60s. It’s too late for me to become a tech billionaire.

Whatever happens, I commit at least 50% of the return to ideas I’ve had about doing the right thing for people hurt by AI. I will take care of my kids and the few people who help me, but I will return as much as I can to the world.
